|
The purpose of the workshop The scientific scope of the workshop will cover the issues of evaluative conditioning viewed from social, cognitive and applied perspectives. The event is designed to engage young scientists in sharing and discussing ideas concerning investigation of non-conscious processes of preference acquisition with particular emphasis on evaluative conditioning. Participants will be encouraged to submit talks and posters presenting their own research. Along with regular conference activities they will also be given a chance to actively participate in small group tutorials guided by more experienced scientists. The number of participants will be limited to about 50. This will facilitate closer interactions between people and more fruitful discussion and thus promote more knowledge flow. The plan of the workshop also includes keynote lectures and small group workshops given by outstanding researchers in fields of social andcognitive psychology. Keynote lectures will be given to introduce the following talks given by young scientists and to outline the scope of small group sessions conducted by keynote lecturers. Prof. Eva Walther (University of Trier), prof. Jan De Houwer (Ghent University), dr Olivier Corneille (Catholic University in Louvain) have already confirmed their participation. Target group The workshop is addressed mainly to young scientists whose particular interests lay in social cognition, cognitive psychology and neuroscience of nonconscious information processing with special interest in evaluative conditioning as a mechanism of preference acquisition. The target group will include postgraduate students, PhD students, and young scientists who have completed their PhD within 5 years prior to the event. Participants from Central and Eastern Europe will be supported with a workshop fee reduction when needed. To apply for a fee reduction participantswill have to take active part in the event by submitting either a talk or a poster and/or convincingly motivate their need for financial support.
